An Apology

I would like to tender an apology in advance of the coming year: I will be using this blog, in part, to enable me to untangle the thoughts that arise during the MA.

In a sense I am actually taking the blog back to its roots, as it began as part of my BA (where has the time gone? 2014, really?!)

During that degree, I learned that I absorbed information best through a combination of Read/Write bias and Kinesthetic learning. So, after I write up my notes from each session, I plan to condense them into a more legible piece and post here. This way I will have a combination of course notes, and mini-essays (which will hopefully make more sense than the scribbles that covered the pages of my notebook!) to aid me as I go forward with the course.

So many notes...

It will also give me practice in MHRA Referencing (honestly, I'd only just cracked Harvard style!), enable me to practice writing semi-academically again, and, hopefully, lead to some interesting conversations across my various platforms.

So, yeah... apologies in advance!

  1. I got into a muddle with my horrible hand writing (like an old doctors scribblings). I ended up taping the lectures and using a dictaphone to make sense of things. The amount of deletes on the computer were humongous. Ah! the thoughts of an untidy mind.

    1. I don't think we're actually allowed to self-record because of privacy issues! We would need to get permission from everyone in the lecture! Some rooms have a thing called Lecture Capture, but I've not seen one turned on yet.
Also, some of the lecturers don't like us using laptops, preferring us to write notes as it makes us slow down and consider what we're writing, as opposed to blindly tapping away, or taking notes verbatim, on a laptop and maybe not engaging fully with the material.
Aah, it's all different methodologies isn't it?! Hopefully, as I have a read/write bias of learning, this will help!
